
Gus, the perfect piggy
Here is Gus, a commission completed recently of an adorable little bundle of character!! This little guy definitely has a big personality...you can almost see his smile! I am really proud with how this has turned out and think that it really portrays him well! I used watercolour pencils, inks, and acrylics to create this piece, starting with a dark base layer and adding lighter tones. This technique takes time, but is really worth the finishing result.

I really enjoyed drawing this cow and calf, there is something very satisfy about depicting two characters in a very calm scene. For this piece, acrylics, biros, inks and water colours were used to create the variety of tones and patches. I like this style of working, and think that I am definitely developing as an artist at producing unique and expressive work. I don't know what it is about boxer dogs. They have such thoughtful, concerned expressions; and their turned up faces and wrinkly muzzles are just so interesting to draw! This piece is another mixed media drawing, with biro, acrylics and inks. For me, pieces like this are all about layering the materials to create shadow and highlights, and to pick up on detailed areas.

Spring Chicken... and the wonder that is bright colours
So after spending a lot of my time producing mixed media pieces, the call of painting won me over. There is something very therapeutic about painting, well my style of it anyway. Messy...would be an understatement!! I am usually covered in paint, but it is soooo worth it. I love the textures that can be created with thick bold brush strokes and a stylised manner, and the contrast between the watered down dripping parts and the built up areas around the beak. There is also a v
